Lily showed up to her session extremely nervous. She drove in from Topeka for her Topeka West senior pictures, and the nerves came with her. Four outfits and three Lawrence spots later, she had a gallery that looks completely like her.

We started in Downtown Lawrence in the afternoon, three hours before golden hour. Lily wore a red top with jeans and sandals. She brought sunglasses, a bundle of sunflowers, and a rainbow hand fan. Props give nervous hands something to do, and Lily came prepared. That red top made her stand out in every frame downtown.

Next, we headed to the University of Kansas campus near Potter Lake. Lily changed into scrubs and white shoes. She brought her diploma from Washburn Tech and a letter board. It read, “The world needs more healers.” Lily is ready to be one of them.

Her second KU look was all cozy texture. She wore a brown cable knit cardigan, a white shirt, jeans, and sandals. A Jayhawk bus sat in the background of one frame, with red flowers in front. Lily pulled her black sunglasses down and looked right over the top of them. That is not the face of a nervous senior anymore.

We finished at the Lawrence Arboretum just as golden hour arrived. Lily wore a white dress for this last set. She brought a book and flowers. The book was the right call. For my Senior Sunday feature, she shared her idea of a perfect day: “Hanging out with friends, reading, and having time to myself.” This set feels like that day.

After her session, Lily wrote this: “Megan instantly cleared my worries and made me feel completely understood.” That line means a lot to me. Nervous seniors are not a problem to fix. They just need someone to guide them from the first outfit to the last frame.
