Amelia’s Eclectic and Ethereal Senior Portraits in Lawrence, KS | Free State High School Class of 2026
I was so excited to work with Amelia, a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind member of the Free State High School Class of 2026. The second I read her questionnaire, I knew this session would be different in the best way.
Amelia wanted her senior portraits to feel eclectic, spooky, and authentic. That matched her perfectly. She described herself as an old soul with a “little black raincloud with lightning” personality, and honestly, iconic.
We started mid-afternoon at Baker Wetlands in Lawrence, Kansas. She wore a cozy mustard yellow sweater that felt natural and relaxed, and we had the open fields to ourselves before the crowds showed up.
As the light shifted into golden hour, we headed to the University of Kansas campus. The architecture and trees gave us that classic, academic vibe, which fit Amelia’s depth so well. Her maroon sweater outfit looked so good against the KU backdrop.
Then we went full drama.
We finished in downtown Lawrence on Mass St., and this is where Amelia’s signature style showed up loud and clear. She changed into a black tee and a long black-and-red checkered kilt, and we leaned into moody light and graffiti walls for that edgy, authentic feel. It was also a perfect nod to her love for bands like Metallica and her request for spooky locations.
Amelia, thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits. Your gallery has so much personality and character, and I loved creating something that felt 100% you. Also, best of luck finding that coven in Europe after graduation. I’m obsessed.
